Mount Davidson used to be a City-owned park. Now, the section where the cross is doesn’t belong to the City anymore because of it’s religious ties. Pretty logical I suppose.
Religious matters aside, Mount Davidson is the highest natural point in San Francisco and offers great views of the City. It’s also a nice short hike to the top.
