The National Park Service is slowly reopening, but the South Unit of Badlands NP is still closed due to Covid-19 in accordance with Oglala Sioux Tribe ordinances.
We drove the Hwy 240 Badlands Loop Road and will have to go back to see the rest of the park. Regardless, it was gorgeous. The landscape is breathtaking in some places and there is quite a bit of wildlife roaming around. We saw prairie dogs and lots of bison. I would have loved to see some big horns near Wall, SD but they weren’t out that day. Maybe they were also sheltering in place 😉
So glad you were able to see at least a portion of the Badlands. Your pictures are quite good, and they remind me of our trip: https://ohtheplaceswesee.com/2020/05/11/its-all-good-in-badlands-national-park/
Here’s hoping you get back to see the South Unit. We were almost as fascinated by the grasslands as we were by the formations.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing the link to your photos! We saw that dino too! And yes, the Grasslands are absolutely beautiful. We will go back to see the South Unit when it reopens. Badlands wasn’t originally part of our trip so we’ll have to pay it a proper visit next time 😉
Thanks for dropping by!
It’s a great place for photos, as you saw.
I would like to go to this place!
You should. It’s beautiful!
