URBEX: Bombay Beach

No locks to break or fences to hop. However, it looks like one giant urban exploration site. Let me explain…

People still live on the town (about 295 of them to be exact), but a lot of it has been abandoned and run down by the nearby Salton Sea and vandalism. What was once a relaxing resort is now an apocalyptic scene filled with trash, dead fish… and photographers. A friend living nearby in Coachella told me the Salton Sea area became this way because the government stopped regulating the water’s ph, making the body of water unexploitable. Apparently, the fumes are becoming so toxic that it posing a threat to the surrounding populations.

This was my second visit, and I got a chance to go into some of those vandalized homes.
