What happens after you flush…

I won’t get into details because I don’t know the odds and ends of how this works, but I had the opportunity to tour a water treatment plant on the West Coast of the United States.

It was one of the most interesting yet most disgusting experiences of my life. The whole process is really quite cool to see, but that cake…

I mean, the cake… you know what I’m talking about, right? It’s that compound stuff of all the things that get flushed, etc. It’s just gross. And extremely smelly.

A few facts: Purple pipes are for recycled water. There is a flame constantly burning for methane. The guys at the plant regularly find weird things in the filters such as needles, baby wipes, tampons, etc. The water tanks go way deep underground and are really kind of scary (especially when they are in the dark)!
