The following photos were taken mostly during the Dyke March on Saturday evening.
I used to like this particular event better because there is more involvement, but I think I have changed my mind. It’s not really about women anymore and what used to be a family-friendly event has turned into a more promiscuous one than the parade itself. Too bad! I wish pride was a little more about including everyone -that is also the LGBT families, not just the sexual orientation part of the whole thing.
Anyway, enough with the ranting. We marched in the parade with Kaiser Permanente the next day, and it turned out to be fine. Our float was one of the first ones to go so the wait was totally manageable!
Your complaint is echoed in many cities now. The sexualized and objectivized aspects have yet to become overblown in the one held in Hamilton. Our biggest problem is being able to raise enough money to hold the even every year. We’ve gone the past 3 without a parade.
Yeah. We are pretty spoiled in SF… 😉
