It took a while to be able to understand the difference between the Western Tiger Swallowtail and the Anise Swallowtail, but I think I finally figured it out.
The following photos were taken at Milagra Ridge in Pacifica a week ago. The Anise Swallowtail is very recognizable thanks to its black and yellow pattern. It also has dark patches on its forewings, which the Western Tiger Swallowtail doesn’t have.
